A delegation of the Cosco Group visited
yesterday the installations of the port of Barcelona due to the
interest in the development and extension of the same to
effectuate a market study project to analyse the possibilities
of new investments and collaborations of the Chinese company
with the port of Barcelona. It is worth remembering that the
mentioned business group maintains through its shipowner direct
maritime services from Barcelona to the principal ports of North
America and the Far East.
The group was formed by Sun Jiakang, the vice
president of Cosco Hong Kong and the managing director of Cosco
Pacific Ltd., a company responsible for investments of the
Chinese company; Zhang Hongyan and Yan Ting, director and vice
manager of the Transport Division of Cosco Group, respectively,
and Chan Hang, the managing director of the Development Division
of Cosco Pacific, Ltd. On behalf of Cosco Iberia Ship Agency, a
general agent of Cosco in Spain, the visit was attended by Tan
Bing, the managing director and Vicente De Angelis, the vice
managing director, Antonio Cortés, operations manager and Xun
Yu, member of the operations department.
Represented to the Barcelona Port Authority
they received the Chinese delegation: Joaquim Tosas, president;
Josep Oriol, director; Andreu Gispert, vice manager; Albert
Muixi, general secretary; Joan Madrid, sales and marketing
manager; and Joan Dedeu, representative of the port of Barcelona
in China.
After a working session, in which the
extension of the port of Barcelona was one of the main points,
the delegation of the Cosco Group visited the extension works
and had a tour onboard of the “Porta d’Aigua”.
